Elizabeth Burton-Phillips is a wonderful teacher at my children’s school and like everyone, I was incredibly saddened to learn her heartbreaking journey of living with her sons’ addictions. Hence, I wanted to help her turn her tragedy to powerful messages of hope and practical support for other families of addicts going through the same nightmare.
I feel passionate about the work that DrugFAM is doing because I see the importance and the impact of our work on families of addicts and I know that it is from small acorns that mighty oak trees grow.
Having spent my working life as a lawyer and having done substantial fund-raising for many local and national charities and social action projects, I also wanted to add value by fund-raising for DrugFam. With the help of a hard-working team of volunteers, we held a fund-raising event in June 2008, ‘’Cream tea and Capers’ to raise awareness of DrugFam and we succesfully raised a sizable sum of much needed funds. We will continue to do so on an on-going basis. I feel very priviledged to be part of the DrugFam team.
