This is not so much a tribute to our only child, but a warning to other parents of the sheer lunacy of today's 'political correctness'

Tim was just 24 when he died.The real tragedy is that his death was so completely unnesessary, and could so easily been avoided by a single telephone call.Tim was taken to hospital after taking an excess of my 'prescription only' powerful painkillers, which he thought would give him "A High" He was put on a drip to counter the effects of this drug. He later took his own discharge, despite the doctors telling him that to do so would most likely result in his death. Tim, ignored this advice, and telephoned us from the hospital, telling us that he had been cleared for discharge, and was in a taxi on his way home. We had no reason to disbelieve him.

He arrived home looking very tired and washed out, telling us that he had not slept all last night, and was going to bed for a sleep.

His mother found him dead in bed a few hours later.

When, some w!eeks later we learned that the doctors knew full well of the consequences of Tim discharging hiself, we asked them why they had not told us of the situation, one of them smugly told us that they could not breech Tim's 'Patient Confidelity'
If we had just known the true facts that were so criminally kept from us, our son would be alive today. We are currently sueing the hospital, as the information they gave us was flawed.
